The Eden Fellows is located in the context of the Eden Community, a small, close-knit intentional Christian community. As fellows immerse themselves in the program, they are witnesses to and welcomed participants in the immensely formative way of whole-life discipleship and close-knit community that the Eden Community embodies.

cultivating community.

The Eden Community envisions a vibrant family of Jesus in close reach of everyone worldwide. We create learning opportunities for people as they seek to reimagine a way of life invested in what really matters: giving attention to God and taking specific steps to follow God’s invitation to a better way of life. Eden Fellows are greatly formed by their immersion and integration into the dynamic life and work of this community.

The Eden Community was established in 2013 and currently consists of 5 families, totaling 10 adults and 10 children/teens. Our shared way of life emphasizes rhythms of connection that shape us as a joyful, interdependent, intergenerational community. The community’s impact is greater than its small size might indicate, with 13 graduate degrees (most of them in theology and ministry) and over a century of experience in teaching, training, and forming students and professionals for lives of missional impact. That, plus when you love what you do, and when you get to do it together with your closest friends, it’s amazing to see what God can do!

incubating regeneration.

Interwoven throughout the Eden Community’s work is an emphasis on regenerative pursuits — things that do more than just sustain, but instead go so far as to rejuvenate, reintroducing life and vitality where their absence has caused adverse effects. This emphasis is evident at the Eden Center, our retreat and training facility located on 93 acres of beautiful West Texas land, cultivated through the principles of permaculture. It’s also what has led to our efforts at asset-based community development in the neighborhoods of Abilene itself.
