 We’ve got answers.

Below you’ll find answers to some common questions about the Eden Fellows program.

If you find you still have unanswered questions after you browse through them, we’d love to talk them over with you! Feel free to contact us at any time, either by using the Contact Us page or by emailing our Program Director at laura@edenfellows.com.

+ Who should apply to Eden Fellows?

Anyone with an undergraduate degree who is passionate about serving in God’s mission as a young professional. This includes: 1) people trying to discern whether they are being called to pursue ministry as a career as well as 2) people who are called to the marketplace and want to discover how to link their career to God’s kingdom purposes.

+ How much does the program cost?

The cost of Eden Fellows is $3,500. Many fellows are able to raise 100% of what they need by inviting their family, friends, home church, and mentors to invest in their Fellows experience through prayer and financial support. Our leadership team will work with you to determine how that will best work in your unique situation, as well as to equip you for that task. Upon acceptance to the program, a $500 deposit is required to secure your place. The remaining program fee balance of $3,000 may be paid via one of several payment plans. Sounds like a pretty great deal for nearly a year's worth of growth and the experience of a lifetime, right? That's because it is!

+ What’s included?

  • Life in community for 10 months.
  • Formative seminary classes, with books included.
  • Assistance securing an internship that can provide a foot in the door to future employment.
  • Training and mentoring from skilled practitioners.
  • Travel expenses for all retreats, conferences, and trips.

(Each fellow is responsible for their own car and health insurance.)

+ How do I raise support?

Most fellows fundraise a large portion of their tuition by sending support letters to friends and family. Remember, gifts toward the Eden Fellows program are tax-deductible! But don't worry — if you've never fundraised before, we're here to help you every step of the way.

+ Where will I live?

There's some flexibility to that, depending on your needs. Our goal is to find a way for you to live with other fellows in a local neighborhood, where you can readily engage the realities and experiences of life in Abilene. All along, you will be shepherded by highly experienced intergenerational practitioners of life in community as you learn how to healthily engage life together in context.

+ What classes will I take? Will I earn college credit?

Great ones! And yes! Each year, fellows take part in six graduate-level courses offered in partnership with ACU’s Graduate School of Theology, including courses like these:

  • Foundations of Missional Practice
  • History and Theology of Christian Community
  • Supervised Practice of Ministry

You’ll finish the year with a Certificate in Regenerative Culture, which will look nice on your resume. And you can even opt to extend your theological education beyond the program year and apply your credits toward a full master’s degree through the Graduate School of Theology.

+ Does Eden Fellows require me to work?

You do not have to work while participating in Eden Fellows, but should you desire to do so, the aim of the program is to help you find a suitable job in your field. Our team will work you to determine internship possibilities and will guide you as you reach out to area employers to try to match your particular gifts and training with their specific needs. We will help you perfect your professional résumé, prepare for interviews, and navigate the job-searching process.

+ What are the long-term benefits of doing Fellows?

You’ll develop some of the most formative relationships of your life in this immersive experience. And your studies and opportunities for spiritual growth will stretch you and change you in more ways than you can imagine!

+ I have some unusual circumstances. Can I still do the Eden Fellows program?

We’re committed to meet you where you are, as much as possible. Please proceed with your application and let us work with you to make this happen.
